"This Is What Happens" is another diverse and challenging compilation of songs; this time with digital and analog elements. The project was an opportunity to express whatever inspiration happened while I played with sounds and meters. Having completed my previous, initial attempt at digital songs ("6 Electronic Exercises in 3 8 & 11"), I felt completely freed from self-critique or considering how these works should be developed or how they might be received.

My responsibility is to be honest to the creative process, learning more about what resonates in me; no restraints; no assumptions. Finally grasping the inner truth of art without commercial tethers. This is less a sign of maturity and more the nurturing cultivation of grudging recognition - that the music I make will go largely unheard, requiring no considerations for the listener.

This second offering explores some outer edges of music while incorporating the melodic songwriting methods I've developed over many decades (even with some singing!). These tunes require something in short supply these days - patience. If anyone likes anything here or hates everything here that's for them to figure out. At least that means someone is actually listening to the compositions to which I've given so much time and effort.

And that would be something.
